The nervous system
There are two divisions of the nervous system; The CNS (Central Nervous System) and the PNS (Peripheral Nervous System). While the CNS consists of the spinal cord and brain and functions to analyse stimuli and send signals, the PNS has sensory neurons which detect stimuli and motor neurons which transmits signals from the CNS to the muscles or glands. Together they function to coordinate responses!

DepressionAids.about.com says that depression could be a possible symptom of HIV/AIDS, as it is a disease which lasts for a long time. Such diseases are capable of biochemical imbalances in the brain which could trigger a long term depression. Being sick often and having a weak body would wear the infected person down both physically and mentally, therefore contributing to a development of depression as well.

pn (Peripheral neuropathy)The peripheral neuropathy is a symptom due to the damage of the peripheral nerves. The damaged nerves could have a problem transmitting pain, resulting in numbness and pain in the limbs. The tips of the peripheral nerves could be malfunctioning, which would mean that the ability to transmit signals itself can be compromised. Although this symptom doesn't seem to be life threatening, it is assumed that it could be extremely irritating!
